另一方面，有些昆虫可以通过合成大量脱毒的酯酶对有机磷农药产生抗性。例如，某些蚊子的抗药性品系的酯酶合成水平是敏感品系的500倍以上。但目前对蚊子过度合成酯酶的遗传和生化机制都还不清楚。
