(1) should用于条件句,表示将来的可能性,可译作“万一;如果你将会……”。在正式场合,可将should置于句首而省略if。此句可还原成If you should feel…;同样地,表示和现在或过去相反的含义时,也可省略if。

辨析:disappointed/disappointing
disappointing 也是形容词,但其主语一般是物,表示“令人失望的……”;而disappointed的主语一般是人,表示人的心理活动等,意为“使人失望的”。

The response to our advertisement has been somewhat disappointing。对我们广告的回应令人颇为失望。

辨析:collect/gather
这两个词都有“收集;归拢”之意。但用于指人时,collect的意思是“召集”或“集合”别人;gather通常指自发地集中在一起;在表示把零散的物品归拢在一起时,collect比gather更强调计划与选择性。
